computerized telescope
Is a 6-inch telescope that is much better than a 4.5 "?

I'm buying a telescope thoughtfully. Unlike when I was young, I never used telescope one. To be honest, I'd rather be on a first month's rent, but there are none in my area that do. Looks like I had to make a purchase. Is a 6-inch Sun much better than a 4.5 "? I have also now discouraged to a computer-controlled telescope … why is that?

A 6 "scope gathers 1.78 times more light as a 4.5-inch frame, and it will tell you that stars are 0.63 magnitudes fainter. The exposure times are (almost) half. For splitting double stars "Scope A Dawes has resolution of about 1 arc second, while the 6" scope of the 4.5 has a resolution of 0.76 arc seconds by Dawes, but turbulence in the atmosphere, the resolution is limited in both cases. Yes, avoid computerized telescopes. You are wasting your money, you do the purchase of hardware and software, nothing more than you should able to do for themselves. You'd be better off spending the same amount of cash on a telescope with a larger opening.

Orion SkyQuest XT10g Computerized GoTo Dobsonian Telescope

Orion SkyQuest XT10g Computerized GoTo Dobsonian Telescope

$1249.99

Orion Dobsonians have always been known for superb optical and mechanical quality, wonderful ease of use, and remarkably affordable prices. One other thing they – and almost all other Dobs on the market – have had in common: you pushed the telescope to your observing target by hand. Until now. Orion is pleased to herald another giant leap in Dobsonian evolution with the introduction of the SkyQuest XTg series of fully motor driven GoTo Dobsonians. Now, pointing a Dob to even the most elusive of NGC curiosities is as easy as pushing a button or two on the XTg Dobsonians’ illuminated hand controller. High-torque servo motors guided by two pairs of high-resolution encoders then slew the telescope right to your object of interest – any of over 42,000 objects in the GoTo controller’s database. No more nudging the telescope tube continuously to keep the object from drifting out of the field of view, either. The XTg automatically tracks the object’s motion, keeping it centered in the eyepiece while you savor the view. What’s more, the closed-loop electronics of the XTg let you move the telescope manually – or endure the accidental bump – without losing orientation for accurate, automated GoTo pointing!

Orion Sirius ED80 EQ-G Computerized GoTo Refractor Telescope

$1499.99

As numerous customers have shown, the ED80′s short focal length and superb apochromatic optics make it a great telescope for astrophotography. And now we’ve coupled it with a state-of-the-art equatorial GoTo mount that provides the stability and precision control needed to capture beautiful deep-sky images. The ED80 sports a multi-coated 80mm objective lens doublet of 600mm focal length (f/7.5). One lens element is crafted from extra-low dispersion (ED) FPL-53 optical glass from Japan. This high-grade glass greatly reduces the chromatic aberration that causes color fringing around bright objects in standard achromats. The 2″ Crayford-style focuser accepts both 2″ and 1.25″ accessories. Astrophotography and observing are made effortless by the Sirius EQ-G GoTo mount. The included GoTo hand controller contains a database of 42,900 objects.
